LEAD Southeast Elementary Names Founding Class of Student Ambassadors

LEAD Southeast Elementary School has reached a milestone moment, celebrating the induction of its founding class of student ambassadors in a special ceremony last week. As the newest addition to the LEAD Public Schools network, opening its doors just this year, this occasion marks more than just the recognition of exemplary students – it represents the beginning of a leadership tradition that will shape the school’s culture for years to come.

The student ambassador program at LEAD Public Schools provides students with meaningful opportunities to develop leadership skills while serving their school communities. These young leaders throughout the network take on important responsibilities including modeling positive behavior, welcoming new students and families, conducting school tours, and supporting various school events.

What makes this particular group special? They represent the first elementary-aged students to serve as ambassadors in the LEAD Public Schools network, setting a new precedent for student leadership at the elementary level. The selection process was intentional – prospective ambassadors submitted videos explaining their motivation and commitment to serving their school community.

During the induction ceremony, families and school leaders gathered to honor these young trailblazers as they each received a special badge, pin, and certificate, symbolizing their commitment to leadership and service.

Leading by Example

“Our second grade student ambassadors will be models and leaders in our school,” said Rebekah Schott, the family and community engagement coordinator at LEAD Southeast Elementary. “As the oldest students in our school, our ambassadors have the opportunity to make a huge impact on the future of the program and the culture of our school. They set the tone for our kindergarteners and first graders who look to them as an example.”

The impact of these young ambassadors is already evident throughout the school. “From welcoming new students to walking nervous kindergarteners to class, they’ve embraced the chance to work together to create a positive culture for everyone at the school,” said Schott. “Throughout the year you’ll find our ambassadors leading morning announcements, welcoming families and students to school events, and overall modeling our PACK values and what it means to be a LEAD Southeast Elementary student!”

A Foundation for the Future

As LEAD Southeast Elementary’s founding class of student ambassadors begins their journey, they’re not just representing their school – they’re laying the groundwork for future generations of student leaders. Their dedication to service and leadership will undoubtedly inspire younger students to follow in their footsteps, creating a lasting culture of student empowerment and community engagement.

This inaugural group of ambassadors embodies the spirit of LEAD Public Schools’ commitment to developing well-rounded students who are prepared to make positive contributions both within their school walls and in their broader communities.
