Leadership Changes Come to LEAD Southeast High School

There are changes coming to LEAD Southeast High School. Amy Kate Wilkins, principal of LEAD Southeast High School, will be moving to Stamford, Connecticut this summer.

Amy Kate will continue to serve in the principal role committed to the students, families and staff of LEAD Southeast High School for the remainder of this school year. She is looking forward to celebrating the first graduation of LEAD Southeast High School seniors before embarking on this new opportunity.

“LEAD will miss Amy Kate and her elegant leadership,” said LaVoe Mulgrew, Head of Schools at LEAD Public Schools.

She joined LEAD Public Schools in 2017 when she opened LEAD Southeast as a Dean of Culture. She has been principal the past three years. She leads with grace and wisdom. Her students, staff, families and peers respect her leadership.

This year, 100% of the teachers from last year returned (in the middle of a pandemic) to be part of launching this first graduating class. Additionally, the school’s data shows that staff enjoy their work and feel supported and developed by their managers.

LEAD intends to name the next leader of LEAD Southeast before the end of this school year and has contracted with search firm Carney Sandoe to conduct a nation-wide search, vetting internal as well as external candidates who apply at https://www.carneysandoe.com/assets/LEADPD.pdf.

Additionally, LEAD recently began providing training and coaching to principals, assistant principals, and deans throughout their network to grow future leaders internally. As the organization commits to returning to growth and hopes to double the size of the network over the next five years, they seek to develop a robust cadre of leaders. In the coming weeks, LEAD will announce additional investments and programs they’re developing to continue the process of preparing high-performing staff for more leadership roles as they seek to grow.

As for Amy Kate, she remains committed to finishing this school year successfully and preparing the students of LEAD Southeast High School for college and life.
