LSE High Participates in MNPS Career Exploration Fair

The inaugural freshmen class at LEAD Southeast High Schoolparticipated in The Academies of Nashville’s annual Career Exploration Fair today inside the Music City Center earlier today.

In its ninth year, the fair allows 6,000 high school students from more than 22 Metro Nashville Public Schools across the city to learn firsthand about potential careers.

“It’s all about exposure for our kids,” said Samantha Markley, freshmen seminar and high school teacher at the LSE High. “It’s one thing to learn about limitless opportunities from your teacher, but when they come here and see it in action, it really impacts them and opens their eyes to so much more.”

In preparation for the fair, students learned and practiced what it takes to be a professional, both in attire and on paper. One of the student requirements of the day was to gather feedback from volunteers at the fair about their resumes.

“We’re trying to push them to understand how this can impact them today, but tomorrow, too,” Markley said. “We can talk about it in 9th grade, but it’s exciting to see what this will look like in 11th-grade and 12th grade, and college.
