Both LEAD Academy and LEAD Southeast High School Recognized Among Nashville’s Top Public High Schools
We are excited to announce that both LEAD Academy and LEAD Southeast High School have obtained spots among Davidson County’s top 15 public high schools according to U.S. News & World Report’s latest rankings. This achievement reflects the dedication of our students, families, educators, and entire school community.
The U.S, News & World Report Rankings were released on August 18, and evaluated all of the schools in the country based on six different weighted factors that most contribute to student success after high school:
- College readiness, based on the number of students that earned college credit in high school through AP testing
- State assessment proficiency
- Advanced course offerings
- State assessment performance
- Underserved student performance
- Graduation Rates
LEAD Academy and LEAD Southeast High share the same emphasis on high expectations, rigorous academics, and a commitment to ensuring students graduate ready for college or a career. While that commitment looks different in each school, both are focused on giving students the skills, confidence, and support they need to be successful.
At LEAD Academy, that starts with preparing students not only in their academics, but in their mindsets. “Everything we do is in service to our mission of ensuring every student is prepared, when they walk across the stage at graduation, to excel in college, career, and life,” said Principal Joseph Yurchak. “This means that we work together every day to ensure our classrooms focus on college-level academic skills as well as the interpersonal skills and mindsets that will set each of our students up for success no matter which postsecondary pathway they pursue.”
At LEAD Southeast High, Principal Meghan Stowe points to leadership and collaboration as essential keys to student success. “We lead like wolves: with loyalty, purpose, and the courage to run toward the challenge, not away from it. Our goal is to inspire students and staff to embrace leadership, collaboration, and resilience, all essential qualities for both academic and personal growth,” Stowe said.
Having both schools ranked among Davidson County’s top 15 public high schools is a reflection of the work happening every day in our schools. This doesn’t just represent test scores, it reflects what students can achieve when they are supported and challenged by their school community.
