Principal Spotlight: LEAD Academy High School’s Dr. Tony Majors

LEAD Academy Principal Dr. Tony Majors brings more than 25 years of experience in education to LEAD, serving in various roles. He previously served as a teacher, coach, high school principal, executive officer, and Assistant Superintendent.

Dr. Major’s connection to the Nashville community starts from an early age. Majors’ grandparents lived just one block away from the now LEAD Academy campus and he grew up in the church next door.

“This community is part of who I am and I want to be a part of improving outcomes for our students and families,” said Dr. Majors.

“There are far more than one reason that I love being the Principal of Lead Academy,” said Dr. Majors.”If I have to pick just one, then it has to be, leading a school that is equally committed to culture and academic success.  We have outstanding students and amazing teachers who all work together in an environment that is peaceful, collaborative, respectful, and conducive to meeting the needs of all our students and families.”

Principal Majors embodies the LEAD Ethos in his belief that educational leaders must have a vision for success and engage others in attaining that vision while building the systems and processes that enhance all stakeholders’ individual and collective talent.

Throughout his career, Dr. Majors has prioritized the importance of establishing and maintaining a positive culture in schools. He strives to be an innovator who values new ideas, approaches, and partnerships as a means of improving outcomes for students, families, and communities.

“I strongly believe that all children deserve the opportunity to pursue their dreams,” said Dr. Majors. “I’ve spent 27 years working to improve outcomes for children and our community. It’s what drives me and gives me purpose.”

Dr. Majors received his BS in Education, Physical Education, Health, and Wellness from Tennessee State University, MS in Educational Leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University, and his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Lipscomb University.
