LEAD Academy Panthers Score Big on the Court
The Boys and Girls Lead Academy High School Basketball teams are celebrating after outstanding performances in the District 7-A Tournament.
The LAHS Boys Basketball team are the District 7-A Champions for the third consecutive year. The Panthers beat Merrol Hyde Magnet 58-48 in Tuesday’s championship match. LEAD’s Derrick Seay was named District 7-A Tournament’s Most Valuable Player. LaJosha Darvin and Kalen Jackson were named to the District 7-A All Tournament Team.
The LAHS Girls team played a hard fought match in the final game of the tournament and finished second in the District 7-A finals.
During the game, LEAD’s Aisha Starling met a milestone by scoring the 1,000th point of her career. She is only the second girl in Panthers’ history to join the 1,000 point club. Starling and Esther Nsougan were named to the District 7-A All Tournament Team.
The Boys and Girls teams will host the Region 4 quarter-final games on Friday and Saturday.
