LEAD Brick Church Hosts “Rewind” Showcase

LEAD Brick Church hosted a special “Rewind” showcase earlier this week in honor of Black History Month. Students participated in a wide array of activities, including a wax museum where African-American heroes came to life, a jazz club, food tasting and sit-in reenactment that spoke to the heart of the Civil Rights movement.

Other activities throughout the month included a door decorating contest and other themed lessons, all in the name of celebrating the legacy of African-Americans. All LEADers shoutout to our scholars for their courage, commitment, discipline and for serving others!

LEAD schools hosted a variety of activities and event over the course of February in honor of Black History. They included a workshop hosted by the Cameron Alumni Association at LEAD Cameron; last week’s LEAD Academy showcase; and a “Taste of Soul Food” and Black History Month fashion show at Neely’s Bend.

Down at LEAD Southeast, students and staff hosted a program that included spoken word pieces, a performance by the LSE Step team and a rousing rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by Quanterious, a member of the Dr. Bobby Jones Nashville Super Choir.

Our students did an amazing job honoring the legacy of Black History during the month of February. All LEADers shoutout, once more!
