LEAD Public Schools

Optional Remote Learning Opportunities at LEAD Public Schools

Keeping our students and staff safe and healthy is and always will be our number one priority. While that means we can’t gather in traditional classrooms at this time due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we can continue educational services for all students in our network remotely on a volunteer basis. On Monday, March 30, LEAD began offering volunteer remote learning opportunities for students. Here’s what you need to know:

Crew Leader Connections

Students, crew leaders began contacting students the week of March 23 and moving forward, they will be contacting students twice a week to check in on your health and school work. If you have not heard from your crew leader, please contact your school principal:

Middle School Remote Learning Plan

Goals: 1) Ensure the safety and well-being of all students in our network; 2) ensure the continuity of educational services for all students in our network.

Beginning March 30, each classroom teacher will provide daily opportunities for learning in support through Google classroom.

Each crew leader will support students by being an advocate and a cheerleader. Each crew leader is expected to be available 8-4 Monday through Thursday to answer questions. Friday is for planning. Each crew leader will contact students two times per week to check in with students and help with work.

Middle school families will have access to three options of educational resources:

  • Student option 1: Google Classroom offers customized lessons and videos for students with access.
  • Student option 2: A variety of online resources shared via teachers or linked on our website.
  • Student option 3: Hard copy packets by grade level mailed to all Middle School families. These packets are scheduled to be mailed on Monday, March 30.

Helpful Tips

Start and end at the same time each day. Get up, eat breakfast, and take a shower just like you were going to school. Then, start your lessons at the same time each day. It will help to create a routine and diminish distractions. Take regular breaks for exercise, snacks and lunch. Set up an area in your home that you designate as your workspace and ask your family to respect that area. Connect with classmates and teachers online. Share your schoolwork with your family! They will love to see your progress and might learn something from you!
