LEAD Teachers and Staff Prep for New School Year at LEAD University

While students don’t return from summer break until August 8, LEAD teachers and staff have been hard at work since the beginning of July preparing for the upcoming school year.

Prep for the 2023-24 school year kicked off with Leadership Institute, a five-day professional development program focused on strengthening staff’s leadership and management skills. The learning for staff continued with LEAD University–LEAD U for short–which introduces new teachers and staff to LEAD’s academic and instructional model while offering ongoing professional development and support to our returning teachers and staff. LEAD U is also an opportunity for faculty and staff to build community and relationships in the individual schools and across the network.

“As part of our commitment to growing our staff, LEAD continues to offer a robust professional development program ahead of each school year,” said Mary Laurens Minch, Chief Academic Officer. “Our academic team works throughout the year with school-based instructional leaders as well as outside experts to design meaningful, actionable professional development that drives instructional excellence in our schools.”

LEAD Public Schools welcomed more than 85 new staff members to the network for the 2023-2024 school year. While LEAD is not immune to the nationwide teacher shortage, Chief Human Resources Officer Nic Frank, reports that LEAD is very proud of the team they have assembled.

“Close to 80% of teachers are returning for this school year, and we welcomed more than 85 new staff members to the network,” said Frank. “These numbers show that through our Employee Value Proposition, we have created an environment where people not only want to work, but also establish a lasting career.”

As the LEAD team gears up for another great school year, we hope students and families are enjoying the final weeks of summer break and will return to campus refreshed and ready to learn.
