LEAD Public Schools Annual Report 2014 released

Dear Friends,

2014 was an exceptional year for LEAD Public Schools, and in this annual report you will find some of the highlights that tell the story of our pioneering success in managing a charter school network in Nashville, Tennessee.

All of us at LEAD feel a tremendous responsibility to do the very best we can to serve our students and families, and we could not do that without your support. Additionally, we recognize the importance of the partnerships we share with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) and the Achievement School District (ASD), that are crucial to our ability to deliver the quality education that serves our students well. Our partnership approach is being recognized nationally as a model for how a charter school management organization and a public school system can work in tandem to educate our city’s children.

In the past year, we have proven that we can become better at educating students as we continue to serve more students across Nashville. Highlights of our results include:

  • LEAD Academy graduated its first class in May 2014 with 100% of its senior class being accepted to a four-year college – 83 percent of graduates are first-generation college students;
  • Cameron College Prep, a historic collaboration between LEAD and MNPS as the first zoned enrollment turnaround school in Tennessee history, was Tennessee’s No. 1 school in growth in math scores out of 1,348 schools statewide and was named a Reward School, one of the top 5 percent of schools statewide in overall progress;
  • Brick Church College Prep, launched in a dual partnership with the state’s Achievement School District (ASD) and MNPS, tracked the highest test score gains in the entire ASD and, in just two years, is on track to move from a bottom 5 percent school to becoming a top quartile school in less than five years;
  • LEAD Prep Southeast, our newest campus, now has a permanent home in Antioch and is attracting students from all over southeast Nashville while posting the strongest first year results of any LEAD campus.

None of this would be possible without the ongoing support of our friends, and especially our families and students who entrust us with their education every day. Thank you for supporting us and for your belief that any student, regardless of background, zip code, or income level is capable of extraordinary college and career success.

Finally, as our 2013-14 academic year ended, we bid farewell to our founder Jeremy Kane, who left LEAD Public Schools to pursue another dream and chart a new adventure. All of us are forever grateful to Jeremy for his vision and his tireless efforts to put LEAD on this pathway to success. The best way we can honor Jeremy’s legacy is to continue to dream bigger and to keep building a network of innovative schools that prepare students for college and future success.

On behalf of our board of directors, staff, and students, thank you for your support and please come visit! Click here to view the annual report online.

Sincerely,

Chris Reynolds Chief Executive Officer LEAD Public Schools
