LEAD Public Schools awarded $1.4 Million from the U.S. Department of Education
I have some great news to share with you today. LEAD Public Schools has been awarded $1.4 million in initial funding from the U.S. Department of Education, specifically for opening new charter schools, and we look forward to the opportunity to expand the LEAD Network and serve more families and students in the future. These funds will serve to support startup costs as we have the opportunity to open new schools.

We must thank our Fifth District Congressman Jim Cooper, Nashville Mayor Karl Dean, and a number of other local officials and supporters who wrote letters supporting our grant application earlier in the year.
We are especially excited because these dollars represent some of the most competitive funding that exists for charter schools, and we are honored to join some of the finest charter school organizations in the nation in receiving this support.
Lastly, I must thank our board of directors, staff and faculty, and, of course, our families and students, for the courage and commitment that makes the work we do at LEAD Public Schools possible.
