LEAD Announces LSE Leadership Team for 2017-2018
LEAD Public Schools announced today that LEAD Southeast School Director Chris Elliott will be the school director for LEAD Southeast High School as it begins operating a ninth-grade in the 2017-2018 school year.
Additionally, LEAD announced that Emma Mac, the school’s Dean of Culture since 2014, has been promoted to Resident School Director for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year. She will assume the role of School Director for the middle school grades (5-8) effective for the 2017-2018 school year.
Mr. Elliott is the founding School Director of LEAD Southeast, a school that began serving the needs of fifth-graders in 2013 out of the top floor music room in the Cameron building on First Avenue South before the school moved to its current location on Metroplex Drive in Southeast Nashville.
Under Mr. Elliott’s leadership, LEAD Southeast has grown to serve the needs of more than 500 students in grades 5-8 at its Metroplex Campus. The school was named a Reward School for Growth in 2015 and is consistently among the best-performing schools in our network and in Nashville.
Mr. Elliott is a graduate of both Kalamazoo College, where he double-majored in Religion and Economics, and Michigan State University, where he holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration.
Ms. Mac has been the school’s Dean of Culture since 2014. She began her work at LEAD Southeast as a fifth-grade math teacher. She is a Teach for America alumna who worked in the Mississippi Delta as a teacher leader while working as a 7th-grade science teacher. Ms. Mac holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.
Both Mr. Elliott and Ms. Mac continue to put the LEAD Southeast community of teachers, students and families in the best positions of success. Congratulations to both as they assume their new roles.
