107 LEAD Students Earn the Seal of Biliteracy Award
LEAD Public Schools is proud to announce that a record number of 107 students across all of its schools earned the state of Tennessee’s Seal of Biliteracy Award for demonstrating proficiency and excellence in both English and another language.
Twenty-seven 12th graders earned the Seal of Biliteracy and 80 8th graders were awarded Seal of Biliteracy Honors.
“The thing about this group of students is that they are all students that know this language from their families and communities,” said Erica Bundy, director of English learners at LEAD Public Schools. “This award celebrates high proficiency in reading and writing in both English and their home language. This celebrates their heritage and recognizes their achievements for academic excellence in two languages!”
“I think this honor recognizes how amazing and brilliant these students are for knowing and learning two languages,” said Bundy.
Congratulations to each of our Seal of Biliteracy Award recipients!
