#LEADStaffSpotlight: Brandon Corlew, LEAD Brick Church
Brandon Corlew is a LEAD staff member whose story comes full circle. While he currently serves as an exceptional education assistant at LEAD Brick Church, he began his journey with LEAD years ago as a student. Corlew attended LEAD Academy and was a member of LEAD Academy’s first graduating class in 2014.
“I started at LEAD Academy in the 7th grade and am now teaching 7th grade,” said Corlew. “It feels like a full circle moment because I can remember how I felt at that time. It feels great to be able to come back and serve others in the same community that helped me in so many ways!”
Corlew was drawn to education because of his passion for working with kids and helping them grow into the next LEADers of their generation. Having once been in their shoes, Corlew knows the importance of having educators that believe in and support you.
“My teachers showed me so much support and love throughout my years at LEAD Academy,” said Corlew. “I hope that any student that I’ve come in contact with feels the same love and support I received when I was their age. My ultimate goal is seeing my students graduate and flourish and become the best people I know they can be!”
The energy Corlew brings to his school is contagious. “Brandon Corlew is one of the sweetest, most entertaining people you would ever meet,” said Kiera Vaden, family and community engagement coordinator at LEAD Brick Church. “If you need a good laugh or support with anything, he is definitely your person.”
As for his favorite part of the job, Corlew loves being able to connect with his students in unexpected ways. “It’s always funny hearing them react to me knowing the music, shows, and media that they enjoy so much,” said Corlew. “Yes! I ALSO love playing on the weekends!”
