LEAD Southeast High School Welcomes New Principal, Genevieve Byrd
On July 1, LEAD Southeast High School welcomed Genevieve Byrd as its new principal.
Ms. Byrd previously served as founding principal at Belmont Charter High School in Philadelphia. Prior to that she worked as an administrator in charter schools in New Jersey and as a high school English teacher.
“Genevieve’s experience preparing a high school to graduate its inaugural class makes her the perfect fit for LEAD Southeast, another school that graduated its first class of seniors in May,” said LaVoe Mulgrew, Head of Schools for LEAD’s MNPS schools and Ms. Byrd’s supervisor. “I am excited to have Genevieve bring her considerable experience and talents to LEAD Southeast as it goes from being a start-up high school to a flourishing academic institution in Nashville.”
Ms. Byrd joins a faculty and staff team committed to the families of LEAD Southeast. She embodies the LEAD Ethos through her track record of commitment to determination, discipline and serving others.
“LEAD Public Schools is a phenomenal organization that is creating positive educational outcomes for students throughout Nashville,” said Ms. Byrd. “I am excited to join the team at LEAD Southeast and continue to build on the strong foundation already in place. Everyone I have met embodies the LEAD Ethos and it’s an honor to be a part of an organization that is ensuring every student that comes into a LEAD school graduates truly ready for college and life.”
Ms. Byrd is originally from upstate NY and lived in the Philadelphia area for the past 20 years. In her free time she loves to read, travel and spend time with her family. They are excited to make the Nashville area their home and build new memories in the South.
