Titans, TeamSmile Support LEAD Southeast

LEAD Southeast students took part in a free oral health care and instruction program presented by TeamSmile and the Tennessee Titans today inside Nissan Stadium and then spent time with a group of Titans players and cheerleaders.

The TeamSmile program promotes the importance of good dental hygiene. More than 300 students took part in the screenings today and met afterward with players Quinton Spain, Ryan Succup and Nate Palmer, as well as cheerleaders Kaitlin and Kiara.

“This is a great opportunity for 300 kids to receive free dental care and exams and learn about good dental hygiene,” said LEAD Southeast School Director Chris Elliott. “If an average cleaning and X-ray without insurance runs 300 bucks, we just saved $90,000 for our families. It is important for students understand good dental care, you only have one set of teeth and they are expensive. Good prevention up front is good practice for real life.”

Team Smile is a non-profit organization based in Kansas City that creates partnerships with professional sports teams, local dentists and dental organizations, dental schools and area volunteers to help promote the importance of dental care.

Stay tuned to our Facebook page for photos from this morning’s event. Thank you to both TeamSmile and the Titans for providing this service for our students.
