LEAD Educator Chosen for Teacherpreneur Cohort
LEAD Southeast High School educator Dyetra Olige has been chosen for the Nashville Public Education Foundation’s inaugural Teacherpreneur Cohort. Olige is one of the 12 Nashville educators selected.
The Teacherpreneur program is designed to harness educator innovation to remove inequities and build schools where all students thrive.
“As the Transition Specialist in the Ready for Life program at Lead Southeast High School, I sincerely enjoy teaching ALL students how to discover a purposeful career path and what it takes to acquire and maintain a job,” said Olige.
The inaugural cohort will undergo professional learning throughout early 2022 to design and refine their innovative solutions to eliminate systemic inequities in Nashville schools.
“We are excited for the work Mrs. Olige will do through the Teacherpreneur program. She brings a passion for innovation and creativity to our Ready For Life program and to our entire school community,” said LEAD Southeast High School Principal Genevieve Byrd. “We know that the professional development she engages in will not only affect students at LSEH but across the city!”
The cohort experience will culminate in a prototype pitch event awarding more than $25,000 in cash prizes to the top concepts. Select winners will be chosen for seed funding to implement or scale their innovative solution.
“My hope is that the Teacherpreneur experience will help me get a better understanding of how to navigate the entrepreneurial journey, especially as it relates to education,” said Olige.
This leadership development opportunity will help teachers scale their innovative solutions while changing the way our community sees educators, as change-makers both in and beyond the walls of the classroom. We are so proud of Olige and know her ideas will help make real, lasting change for students.
