At LEAD Academy, we center our work on our core values: Relationships Drive Excellence, All LEADers Can Succeed, and LEADers are Learners. When you walk into our school, you can feel these values alive in the classroom and out. It is a special place! I am honored to work with our students and families who make the work fun and worthwhile every day, and I am proud to serve alongside a staff who believes in the same mission as me.

Our School

LEAD Academy High School is a free, open-enrolled public high school in South Nashville that places an emphasis on preparing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in college and in life.

Our Approach

In addition to rigorous academics, we strive to create a relationship and opportunity-driven environment for all students.

With small class sizes and intentional wrap-around services, we care for the whole student and work to ensure all students can learn in an environment where they feel safe and welcome.

We are proud to offer full-time college counselors and intensive College Seminar for every student. During senior year, each student receives individual guidance tailored to specific needs and interests to ensure they can make a post-secondary decision that is best for them.

College counseling

YOUR FUTURE

Our dedicated college counselors use the LEAD model where each student participates in a comprehensive “Best-Fit” process to prepare for life after high school. Our students visit colleges, have a class during the school day to focus on college prep, and receive personalized financial aid and scholarship assistance.

The lead model

Our department proudly tailors our work to each student while remaining focused on preparing our students with the knowledge and skills to succeed in college and life.

Students develop a college and career list based on their individual needs and work with seminar teachers and college counselors to evaluate the various pathways to accomplish post-graduate goals.

Through the LEAD model, each student participates in a comprehensive “Best-Fit” process of preparing for life after high school, including:

College visits, yearly for high school students

College Seminar, a dedicated time in the school day for 9th-12th graders to focus on college and life preparation

Student evaluations and research on college and career options

Full-time college counselor for every senior

Financial aid and scholarship application information and assistance
