To apply to our schools, families must fill out a simple, online application through our enrollment system. In order to be considered for our lottery process, applications must be submitted from the time the application system opens until approximately mid-February.
It does not matter at which point you submit your application during the application window. The only requirement to be included in our random lottery selection process is that you submit by the lottery deadline. Any applications submitted after the lottery deadline will automatically be placed on the waiting list.
Families can see the results of the lottery in their Smart Choice portal. Schools will call families and mail a letter home.
To register, a family will complete a registration packet about their student and submit the following to the campus front office of the school of which you applied:
Student birth certificate
Parent/guardian photo ID
Proof of address
Immunization Records
PLEASE NOTE: You will also have to accept your LEAD seat through MNPS. Families will receive an email from MNPS about a LEAD placement. Log in here and accept your seat. Congratulations, you’re now a part of the LEAD Team and Family!
These meetings will take place throughout the summer, and can also be completed as a part of our “Taking the LEAD” campus events.
These events are meant to build community, and to also welcome everyone back to school. Families will receive transportation, school schedule, and back-to-school information. We look forward to meeting you!
We understand that families have a wealth of options in Nashville for their school of choice, and it is our hope that families will continue their enrollment at LEAD. In order to continue your enrollment, families are encouraged to reserve their seat and continue their enrollment with LEAD by completing the re-registration process which will begin in January and include our “LEAD Public Schools Continuation Form.”
We are preparing LEADers who can progress academically, socially and emotionally. We consider the success of the whole individual as we strive for a more connected future.
At LEAD, you matter. To the teachers, and to each other. Creating your own community, together we take on any challenge. Because you are important. To us, your growth is our success and your success is our only goal. Inclusive, collaborative, we live at the heart of the neighborhood. LEAD is a place to spark your curiosity to seek something great, the courage to attempt it, the relationships to support it, and the education to create your future.
LEAD is a family that leans on each other during trying times. Our LEAD Serve Others Stations help LEAD play a role in the resilience, strength, and courage that our families exemplify daily. Even in hard times, LEAD families find a way to make it work. LEAD is proud to partner with families by providing services when needed. We consider this service a part of meeting the needs of families and meeting them where they are. LEAD families and staff in need of assistance complete this form. Members of the LEAD team will follow up to see how to best meet the needs and/or connect recipients with the right resources.
A charter school is a free, public school, run by an independent operator, which has been granted greater flexibility in return for greater accountability. In Tennessee, charter schools must be registered nonprofit organizations and operate under a “charter” as approved by the local school district or state.

We know that parents and families want to be confident that they are doing what’s best for their child, so our dedicated family and community engagement coordinators at each campus ensure parents and families have open lines of communication with the school and know how to get involved.
Parent participation is vitally important to success at LEAD! Our goal is to meet parents where they are and enable them to be meaningful participants and collaborators in their child’s success. At LEAD, we track family engagement by measuring the percentage of families that we are able to effectively engage through our family engagement efforts. We have a goal to successfully engage 80% of our families through our family engagement efforts. In maintaining a robust family engagement calendar, and in order to successfully engage our diverse student body, we host activities that engage all of our students and families at their engagement ability. Here are some examples of how our parents gain participation hours:
We place a great deal of emphasis on our school culture and maintaining a school environment that is both safe and welcoming to all. Part of that includes how our students dress. Our dress code is:
