Quick Facts

  • LEAD Brick Church is a neighborhood community school, serving ALL STUDENTS in North Nashville’s Whites Creek cluster.
  • School earned a Level 5 (the highest you can earn) on TVAAS in 2018-19 and 2021-22, meaning students significantly exceeded their expected growth.
  • City Champions in Basketball and Cheer in 2021-22.

The Brick Church school has been a staple in North Nashville’s Whites Creek neighborhood for generations. LEAD is proud to continue those traditions while taking our students to the next level academically – preparing ALL students with the skills and knowledge they need to be ready for college and life.

Brick Church became part of the LEAD network in 2012 through a partnership with the state to turnaround the school. LEAD increased core instruction time and critical resources to support our teachers and students — adding counselors on site, additional student support staff, wrap around services, and partnerships with community mentoring organizations.

All Brick Church students meet weekly with a dedicated faculty/staff member for small group counseling called CREW. Through this process, students learn about personal growth not only academically, but emotionally, and are able to bond with their peers and one adult to open up about issues they may not feel comfortable with in a classroom setting.

Campus Vision

At LEAD Brick Church, our theme is #WatchUsGrow. It is our job to ensure that each and every person at Brick grows and makes Brick a place where people want to be. To get there, we need to live up to the following commitments:

  • We create and uphold an environment in which students and staff feel safe, seen, and valued.  Safe to learn, safe to make mistakes, and safe to be and exemplify who they truly are.

  • We pay attention to student progress throughout every portion of the lesson. All students do the work of thinking and problem-solving, with multiple opportunities to speak, read and write throughout a class period.

  • Teachers are intellectually prepared daily, ready to address misconceptions, and provide in the moment feedback to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed.

  • We provide specialized supports for students to achieve – academic, social, emotional, and behavioral.

  • We consistently celebrate success and reflect on our progress, making adjustments to continuously improve our effectiveness.

  • We work together and support each other, even when it’s hard, putting students at the center of every action.

Our LEAD Ethos is central to everything we do.

“We are LEADers because we are committed, courageous, disciplined, self-reliant and because we serve others.”

“LEAD’s mission to prepare all students for college and life is an excellent way for students to have a goal. It’s setting us up for life after school. I choose LEAD because it is promising for all scholars. LEAD is a family who can connect and inspire each other to be great and to stay humble.”
